Rest as Ritual
A Restorative Yoga + Yoga Nidra Experience

Service Description
What if rest wasn’t something we squeezed in when everything else was finished? What if it wasn’t something we had to earn at all? Rest as Ritual is a two-hour experience devoted to exploring rest as an intentional practice—something worthy of our time, our attention, and even our reverence. We’ll begin gathered together over a warm cup of tea, exploring the philosophy of restorative yoga and Yoga Nidra, alongside some of the science of why deep rest matters. We’ll talk about what these practices actually are, what happens when we allow the body and nervous system to slow down, and why—even when we know we need it—so many of us find it incredibly difficult to truly rest. There will be space for questions, conversation, and curiosity as we explore what it might mean to develop a different relationship with rest. From there, we’ll move out of talking about rest and into practicing it. Through a slow restorative yoga practice, the body will be placed into a small number of comfortable, deeply supported shapes using bolsters, blankets, blocks, and other props. Unlike practices that ask the body to stretch farther, work harder, or hold itself up, restorative yoga invites the body to be held. We’ll spend several minutes in each posture, allowing time for settling, softening, breathing, and listening. Gentle guidance, meditation, contemplation, music, and quiet will weave throughout the practice, offering direction while still leaving space for your own inner experience. Our restorative practice will gradually lead us into Savasana and a full 45-minute guided Yoga Nidra—an ancient yogic practice of conscious rest. With the physical body completely supported and still, we’ll journey inward through layers of awareness, allowing ourselves to experience a kind of rest that asks nothing of us except our willingness to receive. After Nidra, there will be time to slowly return—to breathe, move, sit together, and integrate the experience before stepping back into the rest of your day. You don’t need to be flexible. You don’t need to be good at meditation. You don’t need to know how to “quiet your mind.” And you certainly don’t need to arrive already knowing how to rest. You simply need to come as you are. For two hours, there is nowhere else you need to be, nothing you need to accomplish, and nothing you need to become. Come learn about rest. Come practice rest. Come remember that rest itself can be ritual.
