Christopher is passionate about everyone being able to have access to good bodywork. And equally committed to the idea that therapists shouldn't have to destroy their bodies when doing massage. Christopher began teaching in 2008 and has been an NCBTMB approved instructor since 2011. Joining him since Day 1 has been Kate Lewandowski. Kate is a breathworker and teacher. She began as the logistics coordinator for classes, but after attending classes for years and years, she has become an exceptional bodyworker and massage teacher. Together, Christopher and Kate offer the highest-quality courses packed with information, integrity, and fun. Classes are designed for both mat and table practitioners. Although Christopher practices solely on floor, all techniques and theories can be applied to the table. With over 30,000 hours of massage practice, Christopher brings immense experience to share.
The key features of classes:
The art of Long-held Compressions. Christopher is convinced that slow compression work is one of the only ways to truly affect the myofascial system to clear chronic issues and make permanent change in the body. He wants people to have more than just a massage experience. He wants them to be free of pain, reclaim mobility in their bodies, sleep better, worry less, and smile more. So in class, we practice what it takes to slow down and trigger the cascade of neurologic and chemical body shifts that allow the body to reconnect and reorganize itself.
Saving your body. Massage therapy can be tough on a therapist's body if they are using just their hands and a repetitive sequence. It's important to have varied techniques using multiple body parts and positioning. And every massage therapist has different body mechanics and capabilities. Thus, we show multiple ways to accomplish the same goal. Therapists need to find methods that feel good in their bodies. We practice using knees, feet, elbows, and sitz bones! (You could do an entire massage just sitting on people!)
Christopher's Trademarked Strap Support System. Soon after learning Thai Massage in 2000, Christopher realized that in order to do Thai-style compression work for a lengthy career, he was going to need a support system to optimize his body mechanics. After a few trials with assorted bars and ropes, Chris came up with a looped webbing system which he designed in 2002, and continues to use to this day.
Incorporating the breath.
